7th and 8th Chinese naval escort taskforces launch first joint escort operation

  On the morning of March 16, local time, the 7th and 8th naval escort taskforces of the Navy of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army formally joined forces at the east assembly point in the Gulf of Aden and started their first joint escort operation.

  At 7:00 am, some officers and men from the Wenzhou and the Ma’anshan, two missile frigates of the 8th escort taskforce, boarded on the missile frigate Zhoushan of the 7th escort taskforce to learn about the procedure of escort operation.

  Then, the four Chinese naval ships started their first joint operation of escorting 10 foreign merchant ships heading for the western waters of the Gulf of Aden. As planned, the 7th escort taskforce will embark its home voyage after completing two joint escort missions.
